More Happy New Year

For at least the first few weeks of January people will be saying "Happy New Year" to each other. How can we actually make 2009 a happy New Year?

One of the ways to help assure a happy New Year is goal setting. First take some time to reflect on last year. What happened that was good or bad and ordinary or extraordinary? Obviously we can't go back and change anything but we can create a better year this year with a plan. It doesn't have to be detailed, just come up with some goals you would like to accomplish this year.

Maybe you'd like to read a couple of books, go on a great vacation, see a Yankees game...the sky is the limit. Start a journal and jot down those goals. When you write things down it brings them into focus.

"We will open the book. Its pages are blank. We are going to put words on them ourselves. The book is called Opportunity and its first chapter is New Year's Day."
-Edith Lovejoy Pierce (Poet b.1904)
